Arbor Day, Earth Day and Trees, Trees, Trees
The San Clemente Garden Club understands the importance of planting trees and the need to provide information about the selection and care of trees. We also feel it is important for the club to support and communicate tree-related events and activities in support of maintaining our environment.
National Arbor Day - April 26th, 2024
San Clemente Arbor Day Festivities - April 27, 2024
COMPLETE INFORMATION WITH THE EVENT LOCATION IS INCLUDED BELOW
Please join the San Clemente Garden Club, City of San Clemente, Citizens’ Climate Education, Sunrise Rotary Club and the San Clemente Rotary Club at our Arbor Day event!
Festivities begin at 9 A.M. on Saturday, April 27th. This year a tree planting ceremony will be held on at Jim Johnson Memorial Park, 450 W. Avenida Vista Hermosa, San Clemente, CA 92672, next to Shorecliffs Middle School. The city would like to plant some California native trees to provide additional shade at the park.
The San Clemente Garden Club will staff a table to provide club membership and general information to the public.
City crews will be purchasing the trees and excavating the holes for placement of the trees. Our volunteers will backfill the holes with soil, add fertilizer and water.
Everyone is welcome to “get their hands dirty” or simply observe as vibrant young trees go into the ground. So much promise!
If you can, please bring gloves, shovels, water, and just in case, an umbrella! There will be extra equipment that we can loan out as well. Hope to see you at the park!
Photos from a prior event can be found at the bottom of this page.

California Arbor Day Week
Annually March 7th through the 14th
What is California Arbor Week?
Unlike most Americans who celebrate Arbor Day at the end of April, California celebrates Arbor Day early on March 7th in honor of famed California Horticulturalist Luther Burbank’s birthday. In 2011, the California State Assembly and Senate approved Resolution ACR 10 (Dickinson), making California Arbor Day a week-long celebration during March 7 – 14 of every year.
